The Kansas State Chapter of Acacia Fraternity proudly announces the release of the Acacia Leadership Scholarship and its application. For the fourth consecutive year, Acacians of every generation, will join together to recognize incoming K-Staters who are committed to the values of leadership, scholarship, and character.
The Acacia Leadership Scholarship is a one-time, non-member dependent, scholarship awarded to incoming male freshman at the Manhattan Campus of Kansas State University who display excellence in academics, motivation for personal success, and an interest in studying the principles of leadership. The Acacia Leadership Scholarship is presented by the Acacia Alumni Association of Kansas, or Senior Men of Acacia alumni organization. This year, the Senior Men of Acacia will award one (1) $1,000 scholarship and two (2) $500 scholarships.
"Acacia is proud to recognize the cream of the crop; young men with many of the attributes we expect to see in individuals who will achieve a high level of success at K-State and beyond." said Br. Joseph Thomas '01, chairman of the scholarship selection committee.
The Chapter encourages any incoming freshman to Kansas State University who meet the qualifications for this scholarship to apply by completing the application. The application should be mailed to:
Scholarship Selection Committee
Kansas State Acacia
2005 Hunting Ave.
Manhattan, KS 66502
Applications for the scholarship need to be postmarked by February 1, 2010 to be considered for the scholarship. The Selection Committee will review the applications and invite scholarship finalists to the Chapter House for interviews on one of three possible interview days. The interview days will be held on February 20, February 27, and March 6 in Manhattan, KS at the Chapter House, 2005 Hunting Avenue.
The Acacia Leadership Scholarship honors the memory of Br. Alan John Trachsel ’57, who was committed to Acacia’s vision of building leaders in the community. Through the great generosity of the Trachsel family, and through the involvement and assistance of K-State Acacia’s outstanding alumni base, the scholarship has awarded more than $30,000 to outstanding young men at Kansas State University.
"The scholarship has taken its place as one of the many traditions of Acacia Fraternity in striving to promote leadership development amongst aspiring young men," Thomas said.
Recipients of the 2010 Acacia Leadership Scholarship will be recognized during the annual Acacia Leadership and Scholarship Banquet in mid-April.
