Acacia Finishes Third in Fraternity Scholarship Rankings 8/31/2009
MANHATTAN, KS - For the 14th time in the last 15 semesters, the Kansas State Chapter of Acacia Fraternity has finished the spring 2009 semester in the top quartile of the fraternity scholastic standings. K-State Acacia finished third among 23 fraternities comprising the K-State Greek Community with an overall 3.27 grade point average.
"The Chapter has had a long history of academic excellence," said Venerable Dean Taylor Kinney '08. "Our Brothers are looking to improve and build on the solid foundation that is one of the guiding principles of our fraternity."
Highlighting the top six fraternities on campus, the First Quartile Grade Rankings recognize overall scholarship marks as well as new member classes and active chapter results. The third place ranking for the Chapter marks the 11th Top 5 ranking over the last seven years. In addition, Acacia's new member class finished fifth overall in the rankings among K-State Fraternities.
The K-State Chapter of Acacia Fraternity is fundamentally shaped and sculpted around the idea of leadership, yet the Chapter never forgets to place a high priority on scholastic achievement. The motivation to strive for academic success and accomplishment is an intangible characteristic of our Brothers that fuels the process for personal membership development while at K-State Acacia.
"One of the cornerstones of the recent success of our Chapter has continued to be our academic success, and last semester was no exception," said Scholarship Chairman Br. Josh Roemerman '08. "And this I hope will continue in future semesters."
Those achieving a 4.0 GPA for the spring 2009 semester were Brs. Andrew Broeckelman '09, Christopher Dolezal '09, Taylor Kinney '08, Brian Moore '09, Josh Neufeld '09, Aaron Rigg '08, and Brian Tierney '09.
Those achieving a 3.7 GPA or above for the spring 2009 semester were Brs. Dennis Becker '09, Brandon Brunner '09, Brad Coover '08, Brett Eakin '06, Austin Enns '09, and Garrett Sharpe '09.
Since 2001, Acacia has set the standard for academic success as members have repeatedly achieved superior marks. The Chapter has been in the top GPA quartile for 14 of the last 15 semesters and above the all-fraternity and all-campus grade point average for seven consecutive years. During that span, Acacia has held the highest scholarship ranking twice, first in the fall semester of 2003 and then again during the spring 2006 semester. Only two other fraternities at Kansas State have been able to match Acacia with top quartile rankings over the last decade.
