Acacia Extends a Hand for School Fitness Challenge

MANHATTAN, KS – As one of the three ideals that shapes and molds K-State Acacia Fraternity, Human Service is always at the heart and soul of its members. The willingness to give back never drowns out, and the spirit of helping others is close at heart.

Twelve Men of Acacia volunteered their early morning hours on Saturday, September 19th to help with the Manhattan School Fitness Challenge. Members of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, Acacia's 2009 Homecoming partners, also participated in the event, making it a memorable social experience as well.

Several Brothers served at the registration tables to check in hundreds of students from Manhattan and around the state for the event. Others helped as course marshals and awarded prizes to the students finishing the race.

"I hope others in the Manhattan community realize how dedicated Acacia is to Human Service and how the Chapter is always willing to help when needed," said Br. Austin Enns '09 about the opportunities of community service events. "Acacians are called to go above and beyond in taking an active part in the community."

Br. Enns has emphasized truly how important Human Service is for the community of Manhattan. Under the direction of Philanthropy Chair Enns and the external committee, K-State Acacia plans to participate in one Chapter-based community service event each month. A highlight of one of the Chapter’s biggest events of the year, the annual Drive-By-Raking, is quickly approaching in late November.
