| MANHATTAN, KS – Making its second consecutive appearance in the fraternity football playoffs, the Men of Acacia dominated in every facet of the game and won their first intramural playoff game since refounding with a 27-6 defeat of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity in the first round of the intramural playoffs on October 11th.
The high-paced Acacia offense led an early scoring drive to take a 7-0 lead. Forcing back-to-back three-and-outs, the defense held TKE in check late in the first half.
With one play remaining before the break and leading by a touchdown, the Acacia defense put pressure on the quarterback to force the game changing play. The Black and Gold picked off the TKE pass and used some witty knowledge of the rules to return the ball for a score.
"Both the offense and the defense played very inspiring football," said Quarterback Young Man Brandon Litch. "Our defense came through, allowing us to pull out the victory."
The Black and Gold, focused and as poised as ever, dominated the second half with two more scores to run away with the game and advance to the fraternity league quarterfinals.
The football squad, having qualified for the flag football intramural fraternity division playoffs for two consecutive years, has worked to regain its traditional success prior to 2001. Fielding a team for seven straight seasons, the Acacia men have found the importance of a well-balanced life.
Achieving an overall top eight ranking in the fraternity division was among several intramural goals the Men of Acacia established earlier this semester. Picking up a playoff win certainly ranks high on the list of intramural accomplishments.
