Acacia Finishes Second in Fraternity Scholarship Rankings 2/11/2010
MANHATTAN, KS – For the 15th time in the last 16 semesters, the Kansas State Chapter of Acacia Fraternity has finished the fall 2009 semester in the top quartile of the fraternity scholastic standings. K-State Acacia finished second among 23 other fraternities comprising the K-State Greek Community with an overall 3.301 grade point average. The second place finish in the scholastic rankings is the Chapter’s best finish since holding the highest academic ranking in spring 2006.
"The K-State Chapter has led the way in scholastic success for the last eight years in the K-State Greek Community," said Venerable Dean Chris Dolezal '09. "Academic achievement remains to be a major focal point for our Brothers here at Kansas State."
Highlighting the top six fraternities on campus, the First Quartile Grade Rankings recognize overall scholarship marks as well as new member classes and active chapter results. The third place ranking for the Chapter marks the 12th Top 5 ranking over the last seven years. In addition, Acacia's new member class finished third overall in the rankings among K-State Fraternities.
The K-State Chapter of Acacia Fraternity is fundamentally shaped and sculpted around the idea of leadership, yet the Chapter never forgets to place a high priority on scholastic achievement. The motivation to strive for academic success and accomplishment is an intangible characteristic of our Brothers that fuels the process for personal membership development while at K-State Acacia.
Those achieving a 4.0 GPA for the fall 2009 semester were Brs. Dennis Becker '09, Andrew Broeckelman '09, Brandon Brunner '09, Christopher Dolezal '09, Taylor Kinney '08, Nathan Lechtenberg '09, Brandon Litch '10, Matt McHenry '10, Brian Moore '09, Josh Neufeld '09, and Brian Tierney '09.
Those achieving a 3.7 GPA or above for the fall 2009 semester were Brs. Derek Chambers '10, Cory Dorau '10, and Brad Coover '08.
Since 2001, Acacia has set the standard for academic success as members have repeatedly achieved superior marks. The Chapter has been in the top GPA quartile for 15 of the last 16 semesters and above the all-fraternity and all-campus grade point average for seven consecutive years. During that span, Acacia has held the highest scholarship ranking twice, first in the fall semester of 2003 and then again during the spring 2006 semester. Only two other fraternities at Kansas State have been able to match Acacia with top quartile rankings over the last decade.
