| MANHATTAN, Ks. – After nearly four months of anticipation, the Kansas State Chapter of Acacia Fraternity received the results from the K-State Greek Relevance and Accreditation Awards. K-State Acacia was named one of the elite fraternities on campus with top rankings in five categories and second highest rankings in three others. K-State Acacia received the highest ranking - titled "Clearly Relevant" - in five categories including Academic Health, Chapter Development, Engagement, Membership Development, and Risk Management.
For the second straight year, Greek Affairs at Kansas State used the Relevance and Accreditation Awards Program to measure the overall progress of Chapters from year to year. The program allows for a comparison of yearly progress among the many Greek Chapters at Kansas State University.
"This Chapter continues to grow every day," said Venerable Dean Christopher Dolezal '09. "The hard work put forth in developing life-long relationships, in maintaining academic success, and in churning out campus leaders truly makes this Chapter very special. The effort of our Brothers to make K-State Acacia extraordinary is nothing less than spectacular."
Greek Relevance recognizes the importance of Chapter Programming in eight essential areas, ranging from Relationships to Academic Health and Membership Development to Sustainability. Each Chapter submits a yearly progress report detailing the advancement made in each of the eight areas. The program is designed to help recognize what has been a struggle in the past but emphasizes on what has been done to improve those obstacles that have been a stumbling block. These reports are graded by leaders in the K-State Greek Community and campus faculty.
In addition to the top marks the Chapter also received the second highest ranking - titled "Relevant" - in the remaining three categories: Advancement, Relationships, and Sustainability. These rankings are an overall improvement from the 2009 Relevance Program when the Chapter finished with "Clearly Relevant" rankings in four categories and "Relevant" rankings in two others.
Acacia is only one of a small handful of fraternities that was "Relevant" in the Greek Community in all eight categories.
K-State Acacia has already made significant strides in improving Chapter programming this year, and there is much to look forward to. After a record number of applicants for the Acacia Leadership Scholarship, the largest projected recruiting class in over a decade, a new Young Man education supplement, the strengthening of friendships, the success of intramurals, and the focus of leadership, this Chapter is destined to become the top "Clearly Relevant" Chapter in 2011. With that vision and task at hand, the Men of Acacia will strive to do their very best to make this fraternity and this experience a remarkable one.
